Proposal
So I'm thinking of making a small Visual Novel about a girl named Ari (the protagonist) who is recently been through an unpleasant event. However, as she eventually learns to accept her friend's death, she will find peace.
I have found a few background for this Visual Novel and the character that I'll be using. At first, I was thinking of drawing my own character but that would be too much work and might lose time to do my coding. For coding, I will basically type the dialogue of the character and be continuing the story by pressing (space). I'm deciding if I should add choices like in every Visual Novel for the (player) but there won't be any big events coming, this is basically a small story you just have to read through.
I have missed 2 classes and missed the opportunity to do my coding from scratch, I don't think I have enough time to finish my game, but here is what I was planning: (Day 1) search tutorials on how to make visual novels on scratch (Day 2) plan a draft/dialogue for the story and able to save some backgrounds for the story (Day 3) put together the backgrounds and coding into scratch (Day 4) try to finish up putting together all the codes and do a play through to make sure everything is done
Here are the two games that inspired me to make Visual Novel
The Game
1. What difficulties did you have with programming this game? How did you fix them? Be specific.
I had difficulties with just the coding. I can do basic coding but, if you wanted to do a Visual Novel there are a lot of coding to do. I did however asked my friend to help me out and fixed the coding.
2. If you used tutorials or another person's scratch project for reference, tell me what changes did you make to your project?
I don't think I changed much in my game. I guess the only thing that differs from my game is that they included the choices, and mine is just reading the story.
3. What feedback did your beta testers have for you and how did you implement their suggestions?
My friend gave me some suggestions. 1) Make the start of the game like the Menu 2) Add in the main character instead of the first-person perspective, so the players know what the character looks like.
4. What would you improve with your game? What would be the next steps with your game if you had more time?
Well, I would still do Visual Novel because I want to improve my writing and storytelling. I would include choices in the game and adding a bad ending or a good ending. However, it will be a lot of work and a lot of dialogues of each character.
